Amazon CloudWatch Integration

Tap In Systems announces support for Amazon's CloudWatch monitoring APIs as part of its Cloud Management Service (CMS).  CMS is an on-demand service that monitors cloud or data center resources from the cloud.  The CloudWatch support offers the following features.

  • Alerts can be generated whenever a CloudWatch metric threshold is exceeded.  The CloudWatch API is polled and compared against user-defined thresholds.  Email or twitter notifications can optionally be sent when alerts occur.
  • Graphical reports showing metric values from the CloudWatch API can be generated.  The user enters CloudWatch parameters, and the report pulls CloudWatch data from the api to generate the report.
  • CloudWatch metric data can be stored in CMS to provide trend reports across weeks, months or even years. This enables you to see metric trends for longer than the 14 days of historical data kept by CloudWatch.
  • Active scanning of user-defined ports is performed, and alerts generated
  • Simple start up and configuration. Options and thresholds that control monitoring and alerting are entered on web forms.
  • Enhanced monitoring beyond the metrics available with CloudWatch can be implemented using Tap In's agent technology. These alerts can be viewed alongside CloudWatch alerts.
  • Real-time CloudWatch updates and alerts can be shown using Tap In's QuickView client console application or web reports.

Tap In System's CMS with CloudWatch is planned to be generally available third quarter of 2009.  An early beta program is currently available.  You can apply for the early beta program by contacting Tap In Systems at info@tapinsystems.com.

There is no fee for Tap In Systems for participation in the beta program, however the CMS CloudWatch feature enables Amazon's CloudWatch option which is an additional charge to your Amazon AWS bill.
